Money

"Money, considered the root of all evil, is the foundation of capitalism." [1]

Misconceptions about money abound. I will attempt to clear them up.

Money has no intrinsic worth, but is valuable as a means of exchange.

In other words, money acts as a buffer in bartering systems.

Capitalism is not based on money. Capitalism is based on profit. However, the linear view of traditional accounting systems only considers economic trade, and ignores the social(environmental effects) and political(personal power) trades which occur with every transaction.

Finally, the love of money; i.e. the love of something which has no intrinsic value, but exists solely to facilitate exchance, is the root of all evil. Not the money, but the fact that clinging emotionally to it, hoarding it, prevents exchange from occuring. To hoard money is to stop blood from pumping through the body of the economy.

So, we see, that those who hoard wealth, who "bury their talent", are the evil ones, because they are "blood clots" and just one clot can kill a whole system.

Money must flow, wealth must continue to be created.

Finally (for the second time), making profit is a divine imperative. It causes prosperity for everyone. However, being a "blood clot" is evil... don't hoard money, invest it. Risk it. Spend it. Make it work for you, and for everyone.
