World Peace

Casually, people make statements such as "world peace is a myth - people are too destructive", and "conflict makes men stronger". This article attempts to show that a world without war can still contain destruction and conflict, without causing mass-scale loss of life and disfigurement (as wars are bound to).

Also, these ideals are generally borrowed from old dead guys, like Buckminister Fuller. I'm just putting a more modern spin on them.

How is World Peace acheivable?

Previously in human history, obstacles remained to world peace:

  1. Scarcity
  2. Ignorance
  3. The perceived human need to anhiliate other humans

The first, was solved a while ago, as Buckminister Fuller noted.

However, this informaiton has not become widely known, hence the second obstacle still remains as a clear and present danger to the success of humanity (and capitalism).

The last is either a myth, or can be redirected from physical attacks into virtual attacks. These virtual attacks could take the form of conventional "stress relief" activities, such as physical exercise, contact sports, debates, and so on, or the more recent form of expressing violent tendacies safely: virtual interaction, such as via videogames (e.g. Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat, StarCraft).

Myths which trap Imperialists into going to War

  1. It is better to destroy any un-capitalistic by destroying its implementors (the "human capital") than it is to allow it to prosper
  2. The only way for the Empire to survive is to enslave those outside of the "mother country"
  3. War is good for the economy. It always has been, and always will be.
  4. They are too few resources for us to share with the world
  5. I truely love myself so much that I must defend my ideals (such at Imperialism), even it it means sending my own sons and daughters to death in order to prove, by military might, that I am right
  6. Might makes right (because I won the war, I am logically correct)
  7. I must follow the Aliens which are influencing me

Rebuttals to these myths

  1. Omniprosperity is an upgraded form of capitalism, which allows both zero-sum and non-zero-sum capitalists to compete in a free enterprise environment. The marketplace will determine which is right, the stonger will survive, if traditional capitalist are forced to "play fair" and not use techniques such as Microsoft Tax or passing anti-competitive laws behind the backs of the populace.
  2. They are countless countries which have survived without enslaving any other country. E.g. the independant states of the C'bbean.
  3. War has given way to Entertainment and Aviation (as a subset of Travel, such as Automobiles) as commercial leader. Contrast the boost in helicopter sales due to Vietnam with the boost in SUV sales, movies, cars, and so forth.
  4. Buckminister Fuller disproved this, as a hard engineer.
  5. Anyone who truely loves themselves, would protect themselves from harm rather than exposing themselves in the short-term to partial death (soldiers dying in war) and the fear of retaliation
  6. Might shows cowardace and inability to think.
  7. As Jesus and other myths (yogis, superhero archtypes, even vampires) show, even death is temporary for one who has reached the higher levels of humanity. Awareness becomes power, and higher-level contacts become protection.
