A's- Gwen has a strong character and often speaks her mind. (Noooo......) She knows what she wants and is not easily thrown off course, so no matter how many times you ask her to sneak out and go to a drive through movie while smoking and saying many four-letter words, she won't do it. She guards and protects her sensitive side and is not easily outsmarted. Yes indeed, our little (and I stress the word little) Gwendolyn is one tough cookie.
B's- Gwen's responsible about money. She longs for financial security. As a matter of fact, she lies awake every night dreaming of all the different ways for financial security to come and take her away. Sometimes it comes through her window, sometimes it bursts through her door wearing a Russian flag and carries her off.
C's- Gwennie is open-minded and likes to learn. Try as they might, her Amish ways can't change her view that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and lifestyles.
D's- Gwennie is level-headed and rational. She can control her temper up until the point where she explodes. Even when you walk behind her and go "Look, Jessica, it's a midget," then start poking her and say, "Let's make her mad. Let's make her fight," she doesn't do anything. It's actually kind of scary.
E's- People like having Gwen around because she's likable and friendly and makes them feel tall (even Pat!). She's lots of fun and contributes to the conversation, unless you're one of those people who just goes on and on and on and never shuts up, you know?
F's- She expresses her thoughts and opinions clearly and expects to be taken seriously. She's solid, dependable, and strong. She's like a rock, a very, very, very small rock.
G's- Gwennie deals with problems as they come up and does not let anger build up over time. She's also willing to try anything, including that mayonnaise/barbecue sauce/mustard stuff Jehan dips his fries in. (Actually, that stuff is not that bad.)
H's- Gwen is content and has a very uncomplicated view of life. She's grateful for what she has, like our democratic public school system and an American flag to salute in every classroom.
K's- Gwen tells it like it is and leaves the sweet talk to, um, the people who sweet talk their way through life! Yeah, she's the anti-cute.
N's- Gwen doesn't share everyone's private life with everyone else, and really, who wants a friend like that? When I tell a friend something private, I expect it to be all over the school in ten minutes.
O's- Gwen is sensitive, open, acessible, generous, kind, caring, and short. (Wow! This handwriting analysis stuff really works!)
P's- Gwen has a positive outlook on life. She expects for good things to happen. Hey! Maybe that growth spurt will come someday! Or maybe financial security will take her away to her mansion in The Land of the Tall!
Q's- Gwen knows how to take criticism well, which should take all of the fun out of calling her GwenGwen the Penguin, but doesn't.
S's- Gwen is easygoing, listens intelligently before taking action on a situation, blah blah blah. Do you people really need me to tell you this stuff?
U's- Gwen can be a loner. She likes reading, listening to music, talking with close friends, putting feedbags on her horses, and sticking up for Richard Nixon.
Y's- Gwennie is cool under pressure and can accept responsibility. Sometimes she stays at home to watch her pregnant horse instead of going out with her friends, but other than that, she's pretty dependable.
People who like green are usually peaceful and patient, blah, Blah, BLAH. They tend to be generous with compliments, good listeners, and Communists. (But that's just a theory!)
The name Gwendolyn is Celtic (not unlike Gwendolyn herself). Her mother wanted to name her Guinevere, which means fair lady, but her family decided to stick with Gwendolyn, which means white brow. (I know that I would rather be known as a white brow than a fair lady.) Some funny versions of Gwendolyn are Gwendolin, Gwendoline, Gwennoline, and Gwen Gwen the Penguin.
