 Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering - Course No. 9895

Course Aim:  This course is for people who have been working in the relevant engineering trades and want to work as mechanical engineering associates. You will develop the skills required to work in a design drawing office such as manual and computer aided drafting; thermodynamics and fluid mechanics; strength of materials and mechanical and machine design. Develop managerial skills so that you can supervise the design, construction, and operation of mechanical plant and equipment. Modules can be selected to suit specialist areas of engineering.

Career Opportunities:  When you finish this course you can apply for engineering associates positions in mechanical engineering and related fields consistent with your chosen modules. Occupations include: technical officer, sales engineer, technical purchasing officer, and design draftsperson.

Articulation:  When you finish this course you may apply for some credits at universities, depending on the modules you have studied.  More detailed information regarding specific modules available at Granville College can be obtained from the Manufacturing  Engineering Section.

Qualification:  Advanced Diploma

Course Duration: 1080 hours (15 hours per week for 2 years  or 7.5 hours per week for 4 years)

AttendancePart time or full time, day and/or evening

Entry Requirements: A relevant Trade Certificate or equivalent.  Students who have an Engineering Production Certificate or equivalent may be eligible for advanced standing of up to 8 modules.   Full recognition will be given for modules completed in a relevant Diploma (e.g. Mechanical Engineering 9881).  Selection criteria apply where places are limited.
