Advanced Diploma of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering - Course No. 9887
Course Aim: This course is for people who have been working in the relevant engineering trades and want to work as mechanical or manufacturing engineering associates. You will develop the skills required to work in a design drawing office such as manual and computer aided drafting; thermodynamics and fluid mechanics; strength of materials and mechanical and machine design. Develop managerial skills so that you can supervise the design, construction, and operation of mechanical plant and equipment. Learn manufacturing management, planning, layout, costing, scheduling and quality skills. Modules can be selected to suit specialist areas of engineering.
Career Opportunities: When you finish this course you can apply for engineering associates positions in mechanical engineering and related fields consistent with your chosen modules. Occupations include: industrial engineering technicians, manufacturing managers, operations planners, quality technicians, productivity improvement officers, technical officer, sales engineer, technical purchasing officer, and design draftsperson.

Qualification: Advanced Diploma
Course Duration: 1080 hours (15 hours per week for 2 years or 7.5 hours per week for 4 years)
Attendance: Part time or full time, day and/or evening
Entry Requirements: A relevant Trade Certificate or equivalent. Students who have an Engineering Production Certificate or equivalent may be eligible for advanced standing of up to 8 modules. Full recognition will be given for modules completed in a relevant Diploma (e.g. Mechanical Engineering 9881, Manufacturing Technology 9885 or Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering 9886). Selection criteria apply where places are limited.
Course Modules: Minimum of 30 modules (1080 hours). Your choice of modules must include the following:
Minimum of 1 Communication module
Minimum of 1 Management module
Minimum of 8 Diploma level modules
Minimum of 8 Advanced Diploma level modules
Maximum of 6 Trade and/or EPC modules
