9891 ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY

 Course Aim: This "generic" course will appeal to people working in manufacturing organisations for whom a good background in a variety of manufacturing and engineering techniques are appropriate for their employment needs. The wide range of elective modules allows you to choose a mix of subjects to suit jobs in a wide variety of manufacturing and service industries. You can learn skills in the operation of production equipment, the testing of finished products, simple trade skills, effective communication and supervision, quality control, production control and techniques of automation. As there is so much choice, not all modules will be offered at Granville.

Course Content: A wide range of electives are available for study. You must complete (or be exempt from) a total of 38 modules. There is one compulsory half module (7793T O.H. & S.) and one core Communications module plus a minimum of three EPC/NMEC modules from a selected list together with any other thirty modules (except at least nine of these must be EA modules, at least nine of these must be EB modules and six of the thirty can be NMEC or EPC modules). You are not restricted to a set menu of modules.

This course has minimum grouping requirements.

Course Duration: 1368 hours (approx. 10 hours a week for 4 years or 20 hours a week for 2 years).

Attendance: Part time or full time, day and/or evening.

Note: A pre-application is required. You should submit your application before the advertised closing date in January each year.

Entry Requirements: Year 12 secondary or equivalent. Students who have an Engineering Production Certificate or equivalent may be eligible for advanced standing of up to 8 modules. Full recognition will be given for modules completed in a relevant Diploma (e.g. Manufacturing Technology 9885).

Career Opportunities: Production Manager, Production Planner, Quality Manager, Technician and Industrial Engineering Technician.
