Hi! My name is Tony, and is a survivor of child sexual abuse,ra, child phyiscal, emotional, and mental abuse as well as severe neglect, during the early years of our life. We were raped twice before the age of 16. Then followed several years of substance and self abuse , til we married into a abusive marriage which lasted 17 years. Our children are also survivors of that relationship. Finally we are now free of that relationship, having separated in Jan 96. This has been a very hard and long journey for us, discovering that what we thought was normal was in fact abuse.
We have recently been diagnosed as having DID/MPD, otherwise known as Disassociative Indentity Disorder or Mutliple Personality Disorder, or the parts that make us, what we are. We are now told we also suffer from Post Traumatic Syndrome Disorder.
We have made an attempt to write Our Story about the effects of the abuse and how it effects our daily lives. We have also written some poetry which goes part of the way to explaining what it is like for us. We belong to several Web Rings which follow on below.
We will not attempt to discuss the professional side of what MPD/DID is. There are quite a lot of good sites explaining just what these disorders are, links to these sites are listed below.
