Okay... I'm dead bored, although I should be studying... anyways, I've just and finished watching this beautifully covered DVD called "Voices Of a Distant Star" (ほしのこえ)... not to mention this only applies to its cover... >.<' The movie length is only 25 minutes... although the storyline is great, but I wouldn't really recommand it... it's just too deep for me... I get this feeling that this is a copy of "Neon Genisis Evagelion", plus "Saishuu Heiki Kanojo" (最終兵器彼女) ... oh well... I think it's worth seeing that this is only made by ONE person, comparing other anime that has LOTS of people to finish a project! Here's the story line: It is 2046 when a mysterious alien force begins their annihilation of the human race. Leaving behind the one person she loves, Mikako joins the intersteller battle as a pilot. As Mikako flies further into space, her only connection with Noboru are text messages sent from her mobile phone. And so - While Mikako risks her life to save mankind - Noboru waits. At first, days, then months, then years for each message that will let him know whether Mikako is still alive. And, while she barely grows older in the timelessness of space, Noboru ages. The two lovers, worlds apart, desperately strive to remain connected as the gap between them widens at a frightening pace. And basically, reading the storyline is actually the whole movie! So yeah... it's a long distance love story... bitter... and sweet... I actually find this OK, although my siblings really hated it... and said it's not worth the $30! True, with $30, I could have gotten other animations like the "Scrapped Princess" (ステプリ), and that's 6 disk, instead of $30 for one disk with the actual movie itself is only 25 minutes, comparing 20 mins x 16 episode = 5hr 20 mins... eh... On another hand, it contains a special feature called "She and her cat - Their Standing points" which has received two Grand Prix awards! Actually I found the picture prettier than the actual movie, but the story of the movie is better, since I understand it better. >w< I really like this phrase somehow, from "She and her cat" (彼女と彼女の猫), quote "Kono sekai no kotoga, suki datoomou." (この世界のことが、好きだとおもう。) and the cat seems out of place, but I think it's really cute. A newer animation from this very same author called "Kumo no mukou, yakusoku no basho" (雲のむこう、 約束の場所). Much longer than this movie, and in addition, there are a lot more beautiful scenery! Although I didn't quite understand the ending of it, I think I like it. >w< The most recent animation called "Byousoku 5 centimeter" (秒速5センチメートル) seems to carry his style. Furthermore a great improve on the scenery. I guess I'll continue to watch his skills grow...
