march 20, 2001 i recently saw bratmobile in concert, so of course their latest disc hasn't stopped spinning in my discman.*ladies, women and girls*. i loved this album before the concert but after seing allison put on a pep rally i can't get enough! this album is just pure fun. it's loud, fast, girly, and angst-y, it basically makes you wanna jump around the room lift up your dress and sing really really loud. basically as if you've had one too many candy bars that day. ok the hard part, picking one song that sticks out. i would have to put my money down on flavor of the month club. listen to it with some candy, but not anything you can choke on while jumping around :) i know this is a big jump from bratmobile but i've been diving into U2's *achtung baby* the past couple of days. i know i will get shot for saying this but i honestly think this is their best album as a whole. it's classic. sure i had to abandon it for a couple years to get the radio play out of my head, but now listening to it with a fresh ear all i can see in the sheer brilliance of this record. of course one will always be a favorite. does anyone even dislike this song? but the best song on the record for me would be until the end of the world. and another classic oldie in my collection i pulled out one night. blind melon's *self titled*. i love it. period. this used to be my favorite band when i was younger, and listening to it now i STILL relate to shannon's lyrics. beautiful and a little naive but all in all a true staple in my collection. the two best songs hands down, i wonder and time. my advice to everyone here: give it another listen. |
