april 18, 2001 loser alert. i went to see josie and the pussycats. not only did i go see it on it's opening weekend. but i waited for it to come out. now the explanation: i loved the cartoon as a child, i adore parker posey and tara reid's hot! all that aside, i liked the movie. it was cheesy, corny and dumb all the things that make a great teen-flick. parker is as crazy as ever in this one and tara's clothes were bloody amazing! the biggest disappointment i had was that the pussycats didn't wear their trademark leopard-print cat-suits. (that being actually second to rachel leigh cook being cast as joise) this one's a no-brainer but it sure is fun so my advice is: if you like teeny movies then put your kitty ears on and let's rock out! i saw blow a few weeks ago so my memory is a bit on the rusty side of things. but i do remember one thing: this movie was great! it wasn't epic or even close but very enjoyable. i'm one of the legions of drooling girls who love johnny depp and he hasn't looked this hot in a movie in a long time (read: beginning of movie). i found the story interesting and was never bored, however a lot of people have said they did get bored. anyone who likes stories based on real life will get a kick out of this one, especially since it involves....drugs. that's always interesting in a movie, dontcha think? i've owned lock, stock and two smokin barrels for a while now. but i haven't watched it in a long time, mainly because of all the hype and stuff...you know sometimes you just have to take a break from it all. well i watched it with a clean slate, fresh eyes and ears. and this movie truely deserves all the attention and praise it received. it's amazing. it's unique. it's visually stunning, it's a brillaint story. it has everything that makes a movie transform into film status if you will. so even i (someone who really doesn't give two hoots about status or labels) could see why people insist on calling lock, stock a FILM. |
