GRAVITY CAST: SETSUNA "SLACKER" SEGUCHI
Name: Setsuna Seguchi His serene blue eyes look everywhere, but see nothing. Not that Slacker minds being blind, if anything the amplification to his other sense his blind eyes have created is a positive. To aid him in getting about, he has an obedient Labrador retriever named Katsugan (Meaning: “Piercing Eye”). Throughout life, Slacker has learned what it is to be master. From birth he has been practically treated as an adult (not to mention had Mr. Sakano kissing his little ass) by everyone around him. His parents have complete trust in him and hand him responsibilities no child would imagine. While Slacker does enjoy the attention and trust placed with him, he feels rejected as a son. In his observations his parents treat him as a business partner rather than their child. Knowing he is the second born son, his elder brother suddenly dying of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, he often ponders if perhaps he’s treated at a distance because he’s just second best. His nickname was imposed by himself and is a philosophy on life, rather than a simply pet name. To be the best he has to the push himself to a new limit in each step he takes. Nothing he does ever satisfies him, there is no such thing as “personal best” for Setsuna. He is the eternal slacker. His reputation as an intriguing figure among his school and the media has earned him numerous fans and enemies. He knows it. Whether he cares nobody knows for sure. One has to wonder if he even understands his own mentality half the time. His father Tohma doesn’t understand why Slacker chooses to dress like a homeless child. It’s discomfiting to say the least. Slacker sees it this way: he can’t see what he or anyone else is wearing, so why bother dressing up? As long as he feels comfortable and is dressed appropriately for the weather he doesn’t see the harm. Taking an amused note of his father’s vanity, Slacker appreciates the power that comes with dressing a certain way. Naturally he just loves to exploit it; commonly dressing shabbily and sitting in the streets to get donations from the public for his favourite charity, the blind society. Throughout his sterile upbringing, it has been his energetic cousin Ryuko who has taught him about humanity. Unlike others she has no qualms in telling him if he’s being a jerk, or doing something wrong. Her honesty is refreshing, and he enjoys spending time with her more than anyone. Secretly he’s been in love with her for as long as he can remember, but doesn’t dare share his true feelings know only views him as a close friend and cousin. Slacker attends the same school as Sara Fujisaki, and was admitted based on his superior learning skills. While he is heads and shoulders above even the finest Tokyo U students, he chooses to stay in the ninth grade for life learning experiences someone his age couldn’t obtain in university. Now he is more than a schoolboy, his career in NG Records has been upgraded to vice President, which took much consideration on his part. On top of that, he is in charge of the band Snowflake and the drummer. He joined because it sounded terribly intriguing and he knew Ryuko would need him.
