Traditionally, flies were made from from whatever natural materials could be found locally. These tended to be fur, feather and silk threads for tying. These days however there are all manner of materials both natural and synthetic available in virtually ever colour imaginable. Indeed whole books have been written solely on the materials themselves. Below are some photographs of a very small proportion of the materials I have acquired in eight years of tying (fly tyers are notorious horders!).
