Waterskiing in Winter
Brrr... you must be joking

Storm drysuit
Well that's what we thought until we had been deprived of the slalom course for a month.
Our last session had been in mid-October when myself and Andy decided to have one last blowout of a session and skied for about 5 hours. By this time of the year where we live in Lincolnshire, England the air temperature had started to fall and the autumn weather had started to turn windy. After this last session the wind and rain put a stop to any more sessions but already we were pining.
So the only thing to do was hang up the wet suits and invest in some drysuits. Some research soon pointed us at a Crewsaver Storm. The obvious benefits were that it was light and flexible and with a full body fleece underneath would be very warm.
We finally managed to coincide with some reasonably calm weather on 20th December and gave them a good testing. Perfect. Well almost because with a water temperature of only 7degreesC although our bodies were warm our feet were very cold. Also the wind chill once your head is wet made it feel as if we'd just eaten too much ice cream too quickly. We cured this with the aid of Andy's fishing hat and although we looked "odd" we were pretty warm. We could do with something for our exposed feet but what the heck....at least we were out.
The other good thing is although we might not ski all through the winter we should be able to extend the season by couple of months at the end and at least one month at the beginning. We'll keep you posted.

Incidently the water temp is now about 4-5degrees......Roll on Summer!

Checkout the Crewsaver website for more details of the suits
For summer use we use Marlin Titanium 5/3 wetsuits.
This coming year we might get shorties and hope for good weather....hmmmmmm!
