IPETQ
Dear Greg
I have just seen your website and I would like to write about a morale
shattering experience with the above company in Kuwait.I consider myself to
be a professional teacher,an ex- school Principal with 25 years ongoing
teaching experience.I accepted an offer from IPETQ after reading their
advertisement in an ESL jobs website and after an one hour telephone
interview with the Manager of IPETQ.I was promised a sign on bonus of 1000
British pounds if I could join immediately. After one month on the job which
turned out nothing like the description that I was given on the phone in
regard to teaching hours and other job conditions (I was told 19 hours
maximum but in reality it was 37.5 hours), 2 British teachers and I decided
to approach the management and ask for our "sign-on" bonuses. We were abused
by the management who described us as "shop-stewards"!When we insisted that
the company had reneged on their agreement, we were sacked! This has never
happened to me before in my entire career and I am completely devastated.
Other teachers including 3 supervisors have since been sacked for various
reasons - one supervisor even did a "runner".Six teachers were sacked by the
military (IPETQ has a contract with the Ministry of Defence)- this
apparently is an annual occurrence for "disciplinary" purposes to "keep
teachers in line"!One of the teachers who was sacked had just signed a lease
on a new apartment in Kuwait City, bought new furniture etc as his wife just
had a baby.
I hope that other teachers do not suffer such a horrific experience.
