The Boeing 747SP Executive Airplane for His Imperial Majesty

The Boeing 747SP described in this proposal for His Imperial Majesty is the most
advanced executive jet airplane in the world.  The capabilities of the airplane itself
offer His Imperial Majesty global reach – the capital cities of nations around the world
are within non-stop range.

Within a matter of hours, His Imperial Majesty can be anywhere on earth he chooses.

At the same time, a highly sophisticated communications package allows continuous
contact with Niavaran Palace and links the National Executive Authority with military
and civilian networks.

The ship is an airborne extension of His Imperial Majesty’s sovereign territory – a
means to address sensitive international issues on a personal and timely basis, without
turning away from urgent domestic matters.

Iran has the infrastructure required for this advanced airplane.

Iran has extensive experience with 747-class airplanes, and was one of the first
nations in the world to fly the 747SP after it was certified last year.  The accumulated
experience, skills, maintenance facilities, spare and other support capabilities already
in place would make the transition to a 747SP executive simple and smooth.

His Imperial Majesty would have the world’s longest-range executive airplane.  The
747SP is ideally suited to executive service in which the central requirement is an
international presence – it can fly higher, cruise faster and has greater range than any other jetliner.

For example, the executive
747SP designed for His Imperial
Majesty could fly 7,000 nautical
miles, non-stop.  On a flight
from Tehran to Washington
D.C., the executive airplane
would climb to an altitude of
35,000 feet within 30 minutes,
cruise comfortably at 501-knot
true airspeed, more than 4,000
feet above the relatively crowded
commercial air lanes.  Flying
times would be approximately
13 hours.  On a return trip, the
747 SP’s ability to climb quickly through traffic, and to cruise at 37,000 feet, would mean just 11.4 hours non-stop to Tehran.

The communications system is
                                                                                                                 designed to provide direct links
to Palaces, the armed forces and
                                                                                                                 civilian authorities.

                                                                                                                 The Executive ship designed for
                                                                                                                 His Imperial Majesty provides a
                                                                                                                 great deal more than
                                                                                                                 transportation.

It is mobile headquarters for a
                                                                                                                 nation, equipped so His Imperial
Majesty retains the ability at all
                                                                                                                 times to exercise his
                                                                                                                 responsibilities as the National
                                                                                                                 Executive Authority.

                                                                                                                 The communications package is
based on the concept that His
                                                                                                                 Imperial Majesty wants the same
                                                                                                                 instant access to information he
                                                                                                                 has while in residence.
Two other requirements: He must also enjoy
the same direct communications ability to issue
instructions to individuals in many locations;
and transmissions must provide for privacy.

The executive airplane has instant access to
existing systems.

The communications system provides all of
these connections: Direct contact with
international networksthrough linkages with
landlines and communications satellites; VHF,
UHF, and HF contact with armed forces,
military headquarters, the integrated national
command system, naval stations and ships at
sea, civilian authorities, intelligence center.  A
special system connects directly with the
palace.  Scramblers are included on both voice
and teletype systems.

An interior arrangement designed for efficient work and comfortable relaxation.

The executive airplane is designed to make travel hours useful, productive and relaxing.  Boeing engineers and designers have developed this unique cabin layout for His Imperial Majesty, drawing on their extensive experience in executive aircraft design, and with a sensitivity to the special requirements of a chief of state.  To closely tailor the airplane to specific needs, many options are available within the basic configuration.  In any arrangement there can be ample space for privacy for His Imperial Majesty, for the Royal Family, for conference work, for conducting normal business – plus comfortable, jetliner-style for staff and guests.

The Imperial Suite

The suite includes a bedroom,
dressing room, and an office /
reception area.

His Imperial Majesty’s quarter
are in the forward compartment
of the ship for maximum quiet
and privacy.

Access is tightly controlled:
There is no trafficflow around
the suite, and there is ample
room for rest, study and
relaxation in an area deliberately
isolated from staff quarters and
conference rooms.

The design is intended to help insure that His
Imperial Majesty has both the comfort and the
rest needed to remain refreshed in the course of
conducting international business, even when long
                                                                                         distances must be travelled.

Fixtures and appointments for the dressing room
are designed to approximate the standards to
which His Imperial Majesty and the Royal Family
                                                                                         are accustomed.

The intent is to produce a travel environment with
the least possible disruption of normal living
patterns, permitting full concentration on the
                                                                                         mission to be accomplished.

Quarters are roomy, comfortable, with many options in color, texture and materials.

The office and reception area of the Imperial Suite is
designed specifically for business.  A private work area is
built into the forward of the office, with a comfortable
seating area included to permit brief, casual conferences
with staff members.  An adjacent area is designed for
conferences on a more informal level and for staff work
related to His Imperial Majesty’s own activities in the office
area.

The upper deck provides a secure area for the communication center.

The nerve center of the airplane is the upper deck – the cockpit and
communications center.  The location isolates the operators and
equipment.  Access stairs are designed to provide control of traffic to
and from the center, and to give His Imperial Majesty access to
command areas without moving through other areas of the ship.

Conference and dinning

A spacious conference room – approximately 18 by 25 feet – is next to the office/reception area of the Imperial
Suite.  This arrangement permits conversion of the space from work room to dinning area so that it may be used
as a formal entertainment area should His Imperial Majesty wish to host guests while visiting a foreign country.

At His Imperial Majesty’s command, military and civilian information received in the communications center can
be channeled directly to his own office or the conference  room.

When used for conferences, the audio-visual equipment
permits slide, films, and videotape display.  Live on-
board video is an attractive growth option.

Executive Office Stateroom

The executive ship includes office space for staff
executive – a private, secure area where sensitive staff
work can be conducted.

This area also can be a stateroom for use by His Imperial
Majesty’s special guests.

Guest and Staff Seating

The aft section of the main deck is divided into two
cabins with airline-style for the comfort of staff and
guests.  Many configurations are possible, with
various combinations of seating arrangements.  The
aft section includes galley and lavatory facilities
adequate for up to 56 passengers.

Cargo Capabilities

The holds provide abundant room for luggage, gifts, food,
medical supplies or other cargo.  Each hold can
accommodate a car size of a Mecedes 450 SEL so His
Imperial Majesty and staff have the comfort, convenience,
flexibility and security of personal ground transportation at all destinations.

As an executive airplane, the 747SP offers His Imperial Majesty the support of advanced transportation and
communications technology in dealing with important matters that influence both the domestic fortunes of Iran
and the course of world affairs.
