Lord Vetinari ----The Patrician

Lord Havelock Vetinari is the one-man ruler of Ankh-Morpork. This dictator is the one who made Ankh-Morpork what it is today. But before you go condemning him, wait and hear a few of his good points. He started the assassin's thieves, and "seamstresses" guilds, as a way to keep down crime. It worked better than a police force ever could have, making these people abide by rules set down by there own, and subject to punishments even worse than he could have thought of himself. He can be rather sneaky at times, and has convinced most that the (extremely high) cost of disposing of him is more than could be gained by not. Still, there have been quite a few attempts on his life, though he has managed to scrape out of them.

Interestingly, Vetinari seems to have, well, a (how to put this mildly) passionate, deep-seething, gut wrenching, all-consuming hate (remember, thats put mildly) for mimes.
