The 1959 was basically a cleaned up '58. The hood louvers and vertical chrome strips on the trunk were removed. Interior changes included redesigned bucket seats, door panels and a fiberglass package tray under the sissy bar and concave gauge lenses. 7 exterior color choices were available. There was only one size engine avalible, a 283 V-8, but a wide range of horsepower options. The horespower could be upped by adding either dual 4 barrel carbs or fule injection, along with more free-flowing intake and exaust manifolds. Engineers were working on the Q car, which would become the Sting Ray, but unfortunately for Corvette fans, an economic recession would delay the Q car project. |
