GREAT
ORME BADMINTON CLUB
13 September 2008
Dear Mr & Mrs (for your information)
I would like to invite xxxx to join the
Great Orme Badminton Club.
The Great Orme junior club play on three
nights 5.00pm to 7.00pm
1)
Mondays reserved for the
National and County squad players and invited
tournament players
2)
Tuesdays - 4 courts for club players with
coaching
3)
Thursdays - 4 courts for club players with coaching
The club is open throughout most of the
year, however we will advise the days when the club
will be closed, eg Christmas/New Year,
Easter and school holidays.
The Great Orme club was formed in September
1999 and has 50 junior players currently registered with the
Welsh Badminton Union and the Conwy County Badminton Association.
It is the premier club in North West Wales with National standard
players including 4 National Champions, two of whom were the
2006/07 Welsh No 1 U-19 male and female player.
The club has one girl who represented Wales
and won a bronze medal at the 2007 U-17 UK Schools
Games (a 9 sport event replicating an
Olympic game atmosphere) and who is hoping to
upgrade to Badminton England silver standard
tournaments, with another girl playing at Badminton England U-15
gold standard tournaments. The club has two girls who represented
Wales in the 2008
UK Schools Games.
The club is aimed at giving your child, the
player, the level of badminton that they are
comfortable with. For the player that shows
potential and who wishes to play competitively, we will set up
coaching sessions and recommend suitable tournaments.
For the beginner/moderate player we will
also recommend a suitable series of tournaments,
held locally and designed for the moderate
standard junior player.
Coaching and competitive matches will only
be given to the players that want them, if they
only want to play club badminton then courts
are set aside for those players.
No one is made to do something they
do not want.
The club enters teams into the Conwy County
Inter club team tournament.
