River gunboats were used on the Tigris and Euphrates to support the infantry advance in Mesopotamia. In GWSH, a river gunboat stand represents 2-4 boats. River gunboat stands have the following characteristics:

Movement: 8" (same as infantry)

Armament:

i) Up to two stands may be armed with 1 x 1pdr Gun Battery (equal to a 37mm) DEF 5 AI 4

ii) 1-2 MG stands

- if 1 stand then DEF 5 AI 6

- if 2 stands then DEF 5 AI 4

iii) (optional) in some scenarios, a gunboat stand may have 1 x Battery 4.5" Naval Guns DEF 5 AI 5

General:

i) Gunboats are support stands but they operate independently and do not need to be attached

ii) Gunboats cannot call in artillery fire

iii) If a gunboat moves and then fires, then the fire is resolved in the moving vehicle phase

iv) If a gunboat fires while stationary, then the fire is resolved in the stationary vehicle phase

v) Gunboats have a 360 degree arc of fire
