ALBERT
BOUCHARD (born:24th of May 1947)
Albert-Thomas Bouchard (ex-BOC drummer
& singer) was one of the founding members of the band.He and Buck found the
“first”-cults :(The disciples ,The
Travesty,Soft White Underbelly,
OAXACA,Santos sisters,Stalk Forrest
Group). After the “Travesty” project he had joined “The Clansmen” with his
brother Joe & Pete Havalind on guitar from “The Lost & Found” (Eric
Bloom’s first band).
BOC
fired him while the band was in UK tour (1981) one day before their appearance
on “Monsters of Rock” festival, where BOC was the 3rd name (under
AC/DC,WHITESNAKE).The main reason was his delay on two S.W.U. shows in Norfolk
(18/8) and London (20/8).He was late for more than one hour and the band asked
Rick Downey (lighting director) to replace him (Rick was a drummer in a band in
‘70s,and knew the set).
On the above two concerts Rick started and
Albert played the last 5 songs. On the second concert he was late,he apologized
sayin the car he had rented (FORD) broke down and that’s why he couldn’t come
earlier.
When he replaced Rick on drums he shouted
at the crowd the “historical” phrase : “..Flaming Telepaths to all FORD owners
all over the world..”.
But the next day they gave him a leave but
since Rick played very good they decided to keep him as their main drummer.
He was the basic song-writer of the band
.Since he left the band in 1981,something changed in the BOC
songwriting/themes.His absence is very obvious. His only contribution with BOC
(since then) was the December 1984 “X-mas tour” in California(14-31 Dec.’84
& some early February’s ’85 concerts in New York) while Rick Downey had
quited and the “Imaginos” lp in 1988(he had recorded the most of the tunes back
in 1983-84 but he couldn’t afford to
release it as a solo-lp).As Albert says he thought they would take him back to
the band after that, but as he claims they played a game with him and they only
credited him in short contributions.Since then,he hasn’t spoken to Sandy
Pearlman,as he was the one who asked him to do it under the “BOC” name. But a
so-talented person like Albert.couldn’t stay away from music businnes for
long….So,together with his second wife Deborah Frost(ex-“Rolling Stone”,”Creem”
writer & BOC-fan & drummer of the rock-trio called “Flaming Youth” back in the ‘70s) and 3
other guys found the BRAIN SURGEONS(the title came from an old
BOC-concert-poster)In early ‘90s.He started jamming/recording some of their
material from 1987 with Deborah under the “Imaginary playmates” name. The BRAIN
SURGEONS have released the following cds: “Eponymous”1994,”Trepanation” 1995,
“Box of hammers” 1997, “Malpractice” 1997, “Piece of work” 1999 double + some

He
has also been the producer for some bands(Kablamachunk,Pete Bohovesky’s band
