Skill Builder:

SB #2: The girls took a babysitting course through council, including first aid and lifesaving.
SB #4: The girls talked to different members of their families and found out things about themselves as a baby, toddler, young child up to present age. They made a collage of pictures with captions depicting what they learned.
SB #5: The girls made a file of games, songs, stories, etc. that children like. They made a "Kid-Care" box for babysitting or use with younger children.

Technology:
T #4: The girls looked at games/toys for children. They modified or made up one for children and presented it at the babysitting course to the adult that represented a Day Care.

Service Projects:
SP #5: Painted the play equipment at a local city park.

Career Exploration:
CE #2: Learned about caring for a special needs child with a disability from a child care provider (through the babysitting course offered through council). Also, read the poem on page 67 of the handbook, described the poet's relationship with her brother and discussed how the author's brother influenced her personal goals.
CE #3: Interviewed and talked with nurses, teachers, pediatrician, child-care workers about their work, training and experience.

SB #3: The SU arranges every few years for a local hospital (that has a wonderful Baby-sitting course) to come to our neighborhood to give the course. The hospital course is normally given over several sessions 35min away from us. They agreed to do it over 2 Sat. The SU sponsors the course because the C/S do a lot of baby-sitting for the leaders at events, meetings and trainings, and all of us want to know the girls know what they're doing!!
