Computers in Everyday Life
(Note: SB=Skill Builder, T=Technology, SP=Service Project, CE=Career
Exploration)
Skill Builder
SB #2: Although the girls had some knowledge of word processing programs, there
were a number of features of those programs they did not know, so we worked on
those--creating columns and boxes, learning to customize the tool box, learning about
macros.
SB #3. We worked in Clarisworks to create a GS flyer.
SB #5. What a great excuse for playing games! The girls shared favorite games.
Technology
T #3: They watched an OLD movie and a recent movie to compare special effects--and a Veggie-Tales video to to see computer generated graphics.
T #4: How computer technology has changed appliances. I seem to remember them making comparisons between things in the US and things in the UK and with appliances even from when they were little.
Service Projects
SP #3: Produce an informational brochure. They produced the materials for the Lone Troop Committee Court of Awards (we were overseas).
Career Exploration
CE #4: They interviewed their parents (oil exploration, teaching, law) They did this on their own and shared with me.
