Digging Through the Past

(Note: SB=Skill Builder, T=Technology, SP=Service Project, CE=Career Exploration)

Links listed below for helps.

Skill Builder:

SB #1: We went to the Lost Sea in Tennessee, camped overnight in the caverns, and went on their tour of the caverns and boat ride on the Lost Sea. We took some pictures (but it was dark that most inside ones didn't show up).

SB #4: We talked with an archaeologist about discoveries from past cultures, we got to see one of her discoveries. We were able to tour the lab where objects are taken after excavation and studied to tell what they reveal about the past.

SB #5: We learned about the different fossils, how they were formed. We were able to get close up and see many different fossils/formations in the cave. (At the Lost Sea)

Technology:
T #3: Through the video we watched and interviewing the archaeologist on site, we learned about equipment used to assist in recreating art and artifacts from the past. We learned about mapping too.

Service Projects:
SP #4: We made mock fossils and buried them in the sand for a Brownie/Junior troop to discover. (The younger troop was hooked and now want to explore Archaeology).

Career Exploration:

CE #1: While at the Lost Sea we talked with some of the guides and spelunkers there. They talked about hazards being faced there. Also they discussed their training.

CE #3: When we visited the archaeology site at San Luis Mission, we spent the day with an archaeologist and we interviewed her. See link below.
