Our troop (2nd yr. CDs) just did "On a High Note" as an overnight lock-in at the church where we meet.
Skill Builder:
SB #1: The girls had been told at our Tuesday night
meeting to do the poll required. They would then use
this info to plan a musical program & actually put in on during our Friday night activities.
SB #2: After their programs, we had a karaoke session.
SB #3:
Then we listened to music from other cultures and learned about what celebrations music is used in and instruments are played. We did Irish (Celtic) music and Native American music, thanks to outstanding recordings again offered by our public library.

the booklets telling the story in English so they'd know what was going on in the selections they heard.
Technology:
T #1: We met at 6 pm on Friday, drove about 30 mins. to a nearby music store (Hames Music, one of the largest dealers in the Southeast), where I had arranged a tour, demo, and info from the assistant manager on technology in music today.
T #4: we did the part comparing same songs recorded at diff. times when we returned back to the church. My co-ldr. had checked out some recordings from the public library.
Service Projects:
SP #1: We did our annual caroling visit to a local retirement housing project apartment complex.
Career Exploration:
CE #1: We asked specific questions of the assistant manager (who also plays in a band, is a composer, etc. etc. etc.).
CE #3:
Back at the church after our 1.5-hour field trip (which, by the way, the guy
was nice enough to do AFTER regular work hours so we wouldn't be interrupted
by customers!), the girls planned (in small groups of 3-5 people) their
musical programs with the info from Skill Builder # 1. They spent about 2
hours getting these programs together. Each girl in each group had to serve
a portion of their program time (minimum 30 minutes for whole program) as the
disc jockey. They included contests, humor, commercials, etc., as well as
the music they brought from home.
This IPP was very easy to cover in the amount of time we had (Friday 6 pm through Saturday noon, with only about 6 hours for sleep), except for the poll they did beforehand and the service project. All total, I would estimate the project took about 8-10 hours, plus poll time beforehand and service project time being extra. The girls LOVED being able to complete an IPP pretty much all at one fell swoop.
