The Performing Arts

(Note: SB=Skill Builder, T=Technology, SP=Service Project, CE=Career Exploration)

Skill Builder:

SB #1: In either dance, choir, or band (some of us are in one or two of these and others in all) we practice warm ups prior to practice/performing.

SB #3: We interviewed two people about techniques for overcoming stage fright. One was deep breathing prior to performing, this helped the performer to relax.

SB #4: For those of us in choir, we performed at Christmas time and in the Spring concert. Those in band performed weekly at middle school football games, for Christmas and Spring concerts. For the girl in ballet she performed in her year end recital.

SB #5: Two of the girls performed a solo in the church choir for the Christmas program.

Technology:
T #3: We visited the local dance studio and the dance instructor/owner discussed the types of flooring used for professional dance and how they are made to protect the dancers from injury, the types of injuries they prevent, and so that they perform their best.

Service Projects:

SP #5: We participated in our local Florida Forest Festival Parade and in the Parade of Lights at Christmas time.

Career Exploration:

CE #3: We made a chart of the qualities of a good speaker. Pronounce words well and loud enough for audience to hear and understand. Eye contact with audience. Varies voice to keep audience attentive. Know subject well.
