All through out the reception watching everyone celebrate this joyful day that would lead to a better life to the two that exchanged vows earlier, I couldn’t help but to wish that all this was over.  I never thought it would ever come to a point where I’d actually hate my job.  What more could a woman like me that has everything she’s always wanted want?  It’s as clear as glass, all I want is to live in reality now and make time for me.  Just as I was about to shoot the last frame, the figure of something up close blocked away the shot of what I was about to take.  Already frustrated  with being here, I brought the camera away from my face to confront the person that still stood before me.  Wanting to tell this person to back off and let me finish my job, my eyes grew from being angry to amazed.
“ I know that you’re busy and I’m sorry for bothering you, but would you care to have a drink?” stated the guy that I caught looking at me at the church. “ Consider it like taking a break.”
“ I’m sorry, but I prefer not to drink while I’m working.”  I said.
“ I kinda had a feeling that would be you’re answer, so I fixed you a Sprite.” he said.
“ That’s very sweet of you,” I said accepting the drink. “ Thank you.”
“ You’re welcome.  Care to sit down for a while, you’ve been up and about ever since I laid my eyes on  you.”
“ Yeah, I could really go for a break right now.” I sighed.
“ My name is Alex, most people call me AJ.”
“ I’m Michelle.”
“ So how long have you been a photographer?” he asked.
“ A little over two years.”
“ That’s cool, who do you work for?”
“ Ever heard of Perfection Photography?” I asked.
“ Yeah, of course!  That’s the only company I allow my picture to be taken.”
“ Really?”
“ Yeah, they’re the greatest.” he said taking a sip of his Sprite. “ So you’ve been working there?”
“ Yeah, I’ve around it my own my life.”
“ Who is that so?”
“ My parents own it.”
“ You gotta be kidding me?!”
“ I wish I was.” I laughed.
“ That’s really cool.”
“ Yeah I guess it is.” I stated as I drank the remaining amount of Sprite I had left. “ So how do you know the bride and groom?”
“ Well the bride is my cousin and that would should explain it all.” he laughed.
“ She looks so happy.”
“ The happiest I’ve ever seen her.”
“ Well I better get back to work.” I said as I stood up.
“ Hey wait.”
“ Yeah?”
“ You don’t know who am I do you?” he asked.
“ No,” I said uncertain.  “ Should I?”
“ No not at all.  I just figured you would.”
“ Why?”
“ Most people do.  Although not to flatter myself or anything.”
“ Is that all?” I asked.
“ No wait,” he said not knowing what to say. “ How would you feel about taking a job with me?”
“ Listen, I have to go.”
“ I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it sound like that.  Just hear me out.”
“ Make it quick cause I have to finish up here.”
“ Well I really don’t know how to put this,  ummm......”
“ Alex, I really don’t have the time right now.”
“ Please just hear me out for second.”
“ Let me finish this first then you can tell me, ok?”
“ Well I can’t stay for too long I have to catch a flight to Colorado in about an hour.”
“ I can’t promise you that I’ll be done by then, I’ll try to hurry.”
“ Don’t rush you’re job because of me.  Listen I’ll be coming back to Orlando in a about a week so I’ll try to catch up with you there.”
“ Ok, that’s fine.”
Whatever the cause of why he wanted to ask me something left me wondering why in the world he would chose me?  One thing that stuck in my head was the fact that he asked me if I knew who he was.  It’s kinda odd that someone would ask me a question such as that.  Whomever he was certainly took away the anger and frustration I was experiencing.  As far back as I can remember, no one has ever been able to effect me in the way that he did without him saying a word to me.  There was something about him that made him different from everyone that attended the reception.  What it was, I wish I knew.  Perhaps his kindness toward me to actually come to me and introduce himself to me while to others passed me by with nothing more to do than just smile.  Out of the hundreds of people here, he was the one that actually had the heart to come up to me and talk to me.  After wondering who this guy really was and finishing up all that I needed to be done, I was happy that it was finally over.  I glanced down at my watch and realized that it had taken longer than I had expected it take.  Hoping that Alex was still here, I quickly packed my camera up and headed to the spot on which I last saw him.  What I saw wasn’t what I wanted to see.  There sat and empty chair with his unfinished drink that sat on the table.  To see that person that made me feel like a whole different person was now gone made me think that my job has gotten the best of me while my social life drifts farther and farther away from me each day of my life.  Disappointed at myself as to why I let this happened, I decided that it would be best for me if I were to make my journey back home and start the organization of my work I did today.   Capturing all the visions I had witnessed today on film, they seemed to have been stuck more in my memory than in my work.  With every blink of an eye, there I would see everyone’s smiling faces along with a face that would come up more than once.  Alex.  His smile was smile that would make the person that he was talking to smile also.  Whatever the outcome of all of this is, I can learn to deal with it and accept it for I really have no choice but to accept it and move on.  Like everyone says, ‘ Life goes one’.
