Chapter 2 |
~ one week later~ “ You wanted to see me dad?” I said closing the door behind me as I entered his office. “ Yeah, have a seat.” “ Ok,” I said taking a seat across his desk. “ What’s up?” “ I received a phone call from a young man about a week ago who is interested in hiring a personal photographer to go on tour with him and the rest of his crew.” “ Really? Since when have we ever done anything like that?” “ Since now. His management offered us a deal that I couldn’t refuse so I did what was best for this company and signed the written deal.” “ Why would him and his crew want a personal photographer anyways?” “ For personal reasons I assume.” “ So who are you sending out? It sure as hell can’t be me, I’m booked up for the next couple of months.” “ Well, he put in a request for someone and only wants that one person.” “ He sure is demanding isn’t he?” “ A deal is a deal, I can’t say nothing to that.” “ So who did he request?” “ He requested you Michelle.” “ Me?! Why me?!” “ Simply because she saw something in your talent that he liked.” “ Just how in the world does he know who I am anyways?” “ I really can’t answer that because I don’t know.” “ What about all things I have scheduled for the next couple of months?” “ It’s been taken care of all of that.” “ You’re kidding me right dad?” “ Pack you’re bags cause you leave tomorrow.” “ I can’t believe you made a deal with this guy without asking me if whether or not I wanted to do this!” “ Michelle I did this for you. You need a break from all of this and by going on this tour you’ll find the time to collect yourself and have fun.” “ Fun, huh? I truly can’t see myself having fun when I’m doing something that I didn’t even want to do.” “ You’ll thank me for this.” “ I strongly doubt that.” I sighed as I fell into my chair. “ Just how long is this supposedly called tour and where is going?” “ The tour is 12 weeks longs and it’ll be visiting all of the US and Europe.” “ A 12 week tour! Are you out of your mind? You’re sending me on a 12 week tour around the world with a guy that whom you don’t even know and you think that’s the best thing for me? You did this because of it being a good deal for our company. What about what’s good for me?! What about my safety?! Did you ever consider that I might not like it?!” “ There’s no reconsideration to be done. A deal is a deal Michelle and I can’t take it back.” he sighed. “All your equipment is packed and ready to go. It’ll be on the plane when you get there.” “ Oh great, I have to catch a plane too?” “ Oh yeah , I almost forgot. You are scheduled to meet this guy at the airport at 9am sharp.” “ And just how am I suppose to find this guy once I get there?” “ There’s no need to worry, he’ll seek you out.” “ This is just great. Are we finished here now?” “ Yes, you can leave now.” Making a proposal such as this guy did to my father then my father making a decision without consulting me about the situation is totally unfair. Business doesn’t work like that. The first and for most thing that is the most important is making sure that you’re employee is happy and satisfied with their working atmosphere even if that employee is your daughter. What would draw him to make such a decision that he is totally out of his character? The only assumption that I can think of is what this man’s management offered had to have been something grand causing my father not to turn down the offer. In many cases family comes first then business. However, he doesn’t seem to look at it that way. There’s nothing that I could have done for him to have changed his mind. I just thought I meant more to him than money itself. Putting his daughters hands in a so called Young Man’s Hands for 12 weeks going God knows where doesn’t have him scared at all with the fact that he doesn’t even know these people. And to think he actually thinks that I’m going to enjoy this and that I’ll one day think him for this insane decision he made today. Of all the worlds he chose to say to me that I’ll do on this tour he had to pick Fun. How am I suppose to have fun on a tour with people I don’t even know? My life as I know it now is over. For once in my life I wish so much that I didn’t have the job that I have now. Disregarding all my afternoon scheduled events, I simply felt as if I wasn’t needed for I am now a subject of exploring a different type of working environment against my will. I just can’t understand the way life works. One day you could be having the best day of your life, then the next thing you know your is life going down hill from the previous day of it being called the best day of your life. As for me, all I have to ask is, Why me? With all the employees working for this company, my father could have easily negotiated a deal with this man to consider another instead of me. Whomever this person is he has a lot of explaining to do to me once I comfort him about this. Something about all of this just doesn’t seem right. It shouldn’t even take place, ever. Why can’t anyone see that in my point of view? View, huh? It looks like I’ll be viewing the worst days, weeks, and months of my life. Although there’s no reason to fuse about how much I object to this decision because I have no saying in this, it’s just something that I’ll have to accept and live with for the 12 weeks. The sooner I begin this journey, the sooner it’ll be over and I can resume my original job. Not knowing where to start with packing my belongs, I simply grabbed every clothing I had hanging in my closet and stuffed them in separate suitcases with no desire to fold them neatly. With my anger shooting out of the roof and the phone ringing off the hook, I felt as I were going crazy. Continuing packing belongs, there sat Sammy my two year old Yorkshire who was no bigger than a poodle, looking at me with confusion written all over his face. Today’s event lead me to just thinking about how I felt about this when I didn’t stop to think about what I was suppose to do with Sammy. I can’t just leave him here, there’s no one here to care for him. There’s no other choice left other than me having take him along. |
