About the Greenbelt Dog Park

While there are many other dogparks in the United States and around the world, the Greenbelt Dog Park is the first of its kind in the state of Maryland. The Greenbelt Dog Park Association (GDPA), a recognized city contribution group, consists of local residents who worked towards making the park a reality and who believe strongly in responsible pet ownership.

An important part of that responsibility is the socialization and exercise of your dog; the Greenbelt Dog Park and all others like it provide an excellent opportunity for pets to learn how to behave while in the company of other canines and their owners while giving them a safe, enclosed area in which to run and play without restraint. Our park boasts a full acre, complete with trees, benches, plastic "pooper-scooper" bags, wastebaskets, and a double-gated entryway. In the future, we hope to add lighting, obstacle equipment and a water source.

While we welcome all Greenbelt residents, there are certain rules and regulations that each pet owner must follow wihle in the confines of the park, and each dog must posess a tag permit, which costs a mere $5 for a lifetime membership. In order to obtain this permit, your pet must have a county license, its shots must be current, and you must sign a waiver. Tags are available at the city municipal building.
