19:07:02: Rachel Brewer (1744-1790), wife of American artist Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827), was the
daughter of John Brewer (1709-1754) of Annapolis, Maryland, and his wife Eleaner Maccubbin
(1708-1779). In 1762, when Rachel and Charles were married, the Brewers held land in Anne
Arundel Co., Maryland. Rachel's father, John Brewer, inherited "Larkinton" on the South River from
his father, and left to his wife when he died. Rachel's older brother, John Brewer (1738-88) had a
tavern in Annapolis. Her twin brother, Nicholas Brewer (1744-1803) was an Annapolis
storekeeper. The Brewer and Peale families are well-known in Annapolis history, and the Peales
were also connected with wealthy landowner John Beale Bordley, who had a residence there.--Elly
