CURRYWURST
God, does this ever take me back to my childhood! Back when we were stationed in Berlin, there were currywurst stands all over the place, and if we had any loose change at all in our pockets, it was a sure bet we'd stop and get some. I've searched for a good recipe for years.
Currywurst is, in a nutshell, scored bratwurst drenched in a tomato based curry sauce... hot, spicy, flavorful, and utterly irresistable. If any recipe gets the Filla contingent of the family to use this cookbook, this one will be it!
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups catsup
2 TBS worcestershire sauce
1 TBS curry powder
3/4 tsp paprika
10 shakes tabasco sauce
2 lbs bratwurst
DIRECTIONS
Cut wurst into serving size pieces, then butterfly each piece. Fry until brown on both sides.
In crockpot turned on low, combine remaining ingredients. Add bratwurst, cover, and cook for a minimum of one hour. Serve with hard rolls or rye bread.
