IPFW DEPT OF THEATRE PRODUCTIONS

The IPFW Department of Theatre presents The Color of August at Studio Theatre in Kettler Hall on March through April 6. The Color of August was written by Spain's leading female playwright, Palomo Pedrero and was translated by Phyllis Zatlin. Pedrero examines the relationship between two artists and the way their passion for their work affects their lives. Directed by senior theatre major Betsy Breitenbach, this intense psychological portrait is done against a semi-realistic backdrop, and stars Liane Parsons and Diana Malmstrom.

The classic American musical ON THE TOWN, with music by Leonard Bernstein and book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, will run at the Williams Theatre April 26 through May 5. Directed and choreographed by Larry Life, the musical takes place in 1943 New York. Three sailors on a 24-hour shore leave take a carefree tour of Manhattan in search of -- what else -- women.

FORT WAYNE NATIVES OUT OF TOWN

Nicholas Hartman, former assistant costumer at the Fort Wayne Civic Theater and Youtheatre, has earned a professional costume design gig at an Equity house -- the outdoor Oak Park Shakespeare Theaatre in Chicago. This summer's production will be A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM.

Tony Sirk is a featured player in Ball State's production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. Tony plays Henrik, the seminarian son of a philandering middle-aged lawyer married 11 months to a virginal 18-year-old, with whom Henrik is secretly in love. The musical also features David Mitsch, also of Fort Wayne. I saw the production last weekend and it's definitely worth the trip.
