RUNS WITH SCISSORS GETS NEW VENUE

Those who were disappointed by the dismantling of local improv group Little Turtle's Revenge can still enjoy great improvisational comedy at the Pfeiffer House on West Wayne Street. "Runs with Scissors," formerly known as Ft. Wayne Improv'rs, formerly Running with Scissors, performs the first Saturday of every month at 8:00 p.m. "Runs" invites anyone interested in learning more about improvisation to attend their rehearsals on Sundays at the Pfeiffer House. Rehearsal times have not yet been set, but will probably be at 10:00 am or noon. The group also seeks musicians to join them for musical support. "A good improvisational keyboardist or synth player is a pivotal member of an improv troupe," says member Jim Welch, "for providing mood and setting for scenes."

They plan a series of workshops as well. "I think some people have a knack for improv," says Welch, "but I also believe that with proper training, anyone is capable. It's also great for preparing a character for the stage."

Interested parties should contact Jim Welch at JWelch0001@aol.com.

ARENA DINNER THEATRE AUDITIONS

Director Harvey Cocks seeks 25 actors, aged 8 to adult, for THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER, Arena Dinner Theatre's holiday show. The JOURNAL NEWS calls the play "Sheer delight! A delicious evening of zaniness!" Written by George S. Kaufman, Moss Hart, this witty satire about an insufferably arrogant radio personality–turned uninvited houseguest draws caricatures of many 1930’s celebrities, such as actress Gertrude Lawrence, erudite Noel Coward, comedic Harpo Marx, and various members of the famed Algonquin Round Table. Auditions are October 13 & 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena Theatre Rehearsal Hall at the corner of Rockhill & Berry. Performances run December 6-21. Contact Harvey Cocks at (260) 422-6900 for more information.
