"ONCE UPON A MATTRESS" AT IPFW

The IPFW Department of Theatre will present ONCE UPON A MATTRESS through May 2 at Williams Theatre, featuring two theatre majors in their senior projects. Melissa Dowty will play Princess Winnifred and Curtis Shaw will play the Minstrel.

Based on "The Princess and the Pea" by Hans Christian Andersen, the book and lyrics were written by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. Mary Rodgers (daughter of Richard Rodgers and mother of contemporary composer Adam Guettel) wrote the score.

"This show is perfect for the entire family," says director/choreographer Larry Life. "It's pure, hilarious fun and a great time for the audience and performers alike." ONCE UPON A MATTRESS made Carol Burnett a star, in the part of Princess Winnifred, after her 1959 Broadway debut. Sarah Jessica Parker later revived the role on Broadway.

For reservations call the Department of Theatre Box Office between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at (260) 481-6555.
