Come Stroll With Me...
These photographs were taken by Mason Malpass in June 2001.  They are all taken at the site of the proposed landfill.  Some are directly on the "footprint" of the landfill and others on land immediately surrounding it, which will be the "borrow pit" area, and equally affected.

When one considers that this has been an unnaturally dry year, this peaceful pond gives room for thought...

Located on the "footprint", the presence of cypress gives a clue that the land is wet enough to sustain this wetland tree.

And look here, another nice swamp plant.  The pitcher plant grows in abundance on the "footprint".

Found a whole mess of venus fly traps on the  land adjoining the "footprint".  These plants in the photographs will have their habitat destroyed as surely as if they were in the footprint.

Mason Malpass became Co-Chair of FOGS in October 2004, and Chairman in April 2005.  He has had articles printed in several area newspapers on the subject of the Green Swamp's present peril.
