JESUS ROLE AS SEPARATOR OF THE PEOPLE

I AM THE DOOR: BY ME IF ANY MAN ENTER IN, HE SHALL BE SAVED AND SHALL GO IN AND OUT AND FIND PASTURE [JOHN 10:9].

In the Introduction of his gospel, Luke informs one named Theophilus that many like himself had undertaken to compile an orderly narrative of the life and teachings of Jeus.  The implication of Luke's statement is clear, the narrative accounts of the life and teachings of Jeus are no longer in their proper order.  Many of the teachings of Jesus are in reality linked to an incident and two illustration parables that followed the teaching.  Therefore, an essential key to reconstructing the original sayings of Jesus is to research the synoptic gospels to find the incident and the parables that match the teaching.  While incident material is lacking in Matthew's gospel, he has far more parabolic material than Luke and Mark.  Equally important, though Luke's gospel lacks parabolic material, Luke retains far more incidents than Matthew and Mark.  The teaching material that normally follow an incident is found throughtout all three gospels.  But in most cases Luke's gospel retains a more Hebraic rendering.

It is significant that the synoptic gospels have within them the incidents, the teachings, and the parabolic materials that enables one to properly reconstruct the orderly account of the teaching materials.  This can be illustrated in what I call "Jesus Role As Separator of the People".  By linking the incident that occurred in Luke 9:51 with the teaching in Luke 12:49-53, followed by the two parables in Matthew 13:24-30; and 13:47-50, a complete reconstruction of the original teaching in the life of setting of Jesus is established.

WHAT DOES THIS TEACH US ABOUT JESUS ROLE AS SEPARATOR OF THE PEOPLE?
