Ha-Shoresh Digest is a scholarly publication designed with an aim
1.  to educate Christians concerning the Hebraic Foundations of Biblical Faith as they exist in the New Testament.

2.  to unfold the rich and life changing teachings of Jesus in their original historical and spiritual context.

3.  to demonstrate to Christians the significance of relying upon our Jewish Roots for Biblical/Spiritual support.

The phrase "Green Tree" which serves as the insignia of this ministry though preserved in the Greek language is meaningless in the Greek.  I deem it a good thing to find contained within the Greek manuscripts poor nebulous Greek yet good Hebrew.  For by such preservation we may acquire a firm grasp of the original Hebrew sources of the life and teachings of Jesus.  When we look upon the teachings of Jesus, and much of what is written in other books of the New Testament, we much first consult "the holy root".  The root that we who were once Gentiles were grafted into as a wild olive branch.  Wild indeed, for we truly were without God, aliens and strangers to salvation history revealed in the heritage of our fathers who all passed through the red sea, and sustained throughout all the succeeding generations.  Let us be mindful that within the commonwealth of Israel lie our spiritual heritage, which is revealed in the historical sources, customs, manners and culture of the Bible.  We know that The Lord Jesus as a Jew embraced and became a living representative of all these things.  So let us first look to the Hebrew scriptures, for the Lord himself said, "in the volume of the book it is written of me." Let us also be mindful to look upon the Jewish literature of the first Temple period, and thereafter, for much of the New Testament is Jewish literature.  Futhermore, let us look to First Century Judaism, for the Jewish people of first Century Judaism wrote the New Testament.  Why look so much in  Athens "where God was not known" and had to be revealed to a people embracing many gods?  Why look so much in the writings of the Church Fathers? A body of Gentile Believers many of whom rejected the holy root?

In this the first issue of Ha-Shoresh Digest, the phrase "Green Tree" is dealt with at length, along with supporting concepts in the Gospels and the Epistles.  The Reconstructions of the teachings of Jesus including the one addressed in this issue of Ha-Shoresh Digest i.e." Jesus' Role As Separator of the People" are credited to my mentor and teacher the late Dr. Robert Lindsey.  I was fortunate to have Dr. Lindsey's direct and personal hand of scholarly influence upon my first Master Thesis "The Kingdom of Heaven in New Testament and Rabbinic Thought."  I am greatly moved by the legacy of his pastorial ministry, for in his own annointed acuity, he dug up the deepest riches of  Biblical knowledge and made it so practical that the unlearned sheep could unmistakenly know The Shepherd and hear his voice.  As long as I remain in the flesh, I will always endeavor to be a student of Dr. Lindsey.  May his great name and scholarship abide fruitfully in the earth unto the coming of our Lord.

JEREMIAH 12:14-17
So says the Lord: Concerning all my wicked neighbours who touch the inheritance that I have given my nation, Israel, to inherit, behold I uproot them from upon their land, and the house of Judah I will uproot from their midst.  And it shall come to pass, that after I uproot them, I will return and have pity on them, and I will restore them, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land.  And it shall be, if they learn the ways of My people to swear by My name, As the Lord lives, as they taught My people to swear by Baal, they shall be built up in the midst of My people.  And if they do not heed, I shall uproot that nation, uprooting and destroying, says the Lord.
