GREG'S YM1110D with 48” JD riding mower deck

Here is the mower deck I bought for $75. I had to shorten that drive spindle and do a bit of grinding on some of the levers to make more lift available for the deck. I also had to replace the two bearings in that drive spindle. The blade spindles appear to be in good condition, although one feels like it may need new bearings. The plan is to drive it from the rear pto with belts via a belt rotation reversing assembly. (More on that later.)

Here is the YM1110D with the original axle in its original position. Note how close the front tire is to the deck. When the wheels are turned completely to one side, the wheel rubs the deck. The solution is to move the front axle forward about 5 inches.

Here it is with the front axle moved forward 5”. I fabricated one bracket to bolt between the rails of the front bumper, lengthened the steering linkage, front driveshaft, and driveshaft cover. Note the lengthened driveshaft cover.

Here is a closer shot of the lengthened driveshaft cover.

Here is a photo of the mounting bracket I fabricated. It used existing holes in the side rails of the front bumper.

Here’s a better shot of that mounting, note the use of the front part of the original axle mount.

Here is shot from the other side, showing the lengthened steering linkage.
The next step is to fabricate the mounting brackets for the deck – and then on to the drive mechanism.
