Pink Floyd - Is There Anybody Out There?

My Thoughts: (Reviewed by O. Anderson)

While I was under the impression that no band could truly be captured on a live album, along came "Is There Anybody Out There?", a live version of Pink Floyd's "The Wall". Now, I still hold to the principle that a band can't be experienced completely until you've seen them live, but this album nearly changed my mind. I love "The Wall", in my opinion, it's the greatest album of all time. So when this album, "Anybody Out There", was brought to my attention, I was shocked, because I know the whole story of "the Wall", and the movie and all, and I didn't think this story could be captured live.

Well, as it turns out, I was only half right. Of course, the whole amazing story of "The Wall" cannot be captured on audio alone, half of it is visual. But as for the musical part, Pink Floyd did an unbelievable job capturing the whole experience. Personally, I think Floyd is one of the greatest live bands around, I mean, on a lot of tracks, I couldn't tell the difference between it and the studio version. In fact, "Comfortably Numb" gets me every time, I open my CD player to make sure I have the right CD in. Then you hear the crowd screaming
and you know, "Oh, okay, yeah, I have the right CD." I particularly enjoy tracks like "Run Like Hell" when Roger Waters (psycho?!) talks to the crowd, and during the song, he and David Gilmour alternate lines, it's amazing. I really couldn't pick out any one great song, because they are all equally fantastic. Along with this, Pink Floyd performs some extra songs, which all add to the amazingness. If you're a Pink Floyd fan, definitely pick this up, only after picking up "The Wall", of course. "Is There Anybody Out There?" is worth buying a thousand
times.
