Avenged Sevenfold - Waking The Fallen

My Thoughts: (Reviewed by O. Anderson)

I came upon this band one night while listening to my Launch Radio, and after a quick visit to their website, I decided that they were not the band for me. They reminded me too much of Good Charolette, dressed in all black, yet looking no more than sixteen years old. However, I stumbled upon them again on my Launch Radio, and enjoyed their song. So, I took a chance.

I was not at all disappointed. They were no Good Charolette at all, but a rare, decent band. Their eight minute-long songs brought me back to the good old days (as if I were around for the good old days) of Metallica, and such. I thoroughly enjoyed each of their songs. As for the music, it's good. The guitarist are very, very skilled. They play really sweet solos, and their basics are very sound. The singer has a really awesome voice, he can sing, and scream on command. The drummer is awesome, even perfect. He has an amazing double-bass kick, and his hands are very quick. The music is great.

One problem, though. TOO MUCH of the SAME THING! Seriously, I can't tell some of the songs apart, they are so similar. The music, yeah, it's good, but it all sounds the same! All the musicians work their tails off the play this music (I'm sure they do, it's so good), but to create the same song over and over again. I think a few of their best songs on the CD are the ones that are remotely different, "And All Things Will End", or "Eternal Rest". It's good, and I'd recommend it, but prepare to be somewhat bored.

Key Tracks:

Eternal Rest
I Won't See You Tonight, Pt. 1
