Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head

My Thoughts: (Reviewed by K-Billy)

This band is just amazing. A Rush Of Blood To The Head, is their latest cd, and oh my god…The songs on this cd are unlike any other popular band out there. The mix of piano, with guitars, with percussion works on so many levels for them. Obviously this sound has been used before, but Coldplay takes it to new levels, making their mellow, melodic, and sometimes broody music a style all their own. No song illustrates this better than the heavily piano track “The Scientist.” But Coldplay even show that their music can be harder with Politik, a song that opens up with a pounding mix of piano and drums that is as close to hard rock as these guys get. But who cares if it’s not hard, their more mellow songs are usually their best. Tracks like Amsterdam, and the title track. To make things even better Chris Martin has an amazing voice…the tone, and the way he delivers is just great. The songs that have guitar are excellent, with great compositions. Not much to comment about on the drums, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad, just not as relevant. But the one instrument that makes this music much better is the piano. Chris Martin is terrific. In a world of music where everything is watered down, manufactured, and made to sell nothing more than money, Coldplay delivers an album of music that above all else is…original.
