Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

My Thoughts: (Reviewed by O. Anderson)

Having only recently become a fan of this pyschodelic rock band, I am thoroughly impressed by my decision to pick up this album, if I do say so myself. Pink Floyd's "The Final Cut" is a rock opera that describes musically the band's own experience in World War II. Lead vocalist Roger Waters' own father, actually was killed in battle, so he's got it first hand. But on to the album...

AMAZING. That's really the only word to describe it. I love it. From top to bottom. Every element of rock 'n roll is portrayed in this masterpiece. Every song is different, and hits you from every direction. It's just great. The whole CD seems to be one long song, with different words and tunes. The emotions touched upon makes you feel them yourself. The different musical instruments used just add the experience. In fact, current conducter of the San Fransico Symphony, Michael Kamen (notable for Metallica's "S&M"), is featured on this album. Song transitions like from "One of the Few" to "When the Tigers Broke Free" (which, I think, is when he describes losing his father) make this one the most unbelievable rock operas of all time. While listening, you're not even thinking about guitars and drums, you're thinking about an experience. Not much else can be said about this album other than it is amazing, incredible, unbelievable. I wouldn't even call this an album... it's a time machine, or something weird like that. It's astounding. I strongly encourage everyone to get it... even if you're not a rock fan.
