Los Lonely Boys
My Thoughts: (Reviewed by Big Pun)
Ok, I get passed this disc by a co-worker who knows I have a very diverse taste in music…there like, “here, give this a listen…its right up your alley.”…well, I hate to tell them, its not…not at all…for those of you that don’t know, Los Lonely Boys currently have a song climbing the charts in “Heaven”, which I am sure many have you have heard…kinda has a very Santana guitar riff, totally sounds like a summer song…now, having said that, prior to listening to their cd, I would have labeled these guys as total 1 hit wonders….and my opinion sticks after listening to the their self-titled album a few times…actually, I should rephrase that, I am sure these guys are or will be big hits within the Latin community, but as far as main stream radio, I think “Heaven” is going to be it…the Los Lonely Boys are to be described as a bit Santana mixed with a kind of Sublime sound and some Los Lobos added with some Latin/Hispanic rock all together…It worked on a few songs, like the opening track “Senortita” followed by “Heaven”…so I hear these two songs to open the cd and I’m like, Wow, this is kinda cool….straight down hill from here…the rest of the disc losses the sound of the first two tracks and gets kind of drippy and dreary…love songs and cheesy pop type numbers….I kinda dug “Nobody Else”, it could grow on me…the only other song I really liked was “Velvet Sky”, but that’s it….three ok songs…the rest, crap…not nearly worth a purchase….I wouldn’t recommend this release unless Latin rock/pop is your thing…
