Mean Girls

The Plot:

Raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) thinks she knows about "survival of the fittest." But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled 15-year-old enters public high school for the first time and falls prey to the psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today. My Thoughts: (Reviewed by O. Anderson)

I went into this movie with very, very low expectations. Having seen Lindsay Lohan's "Freaky Friday" (which I liked, but to a certain extent), I didn't expect anything worthy of a praise in my mind, so, obviously I wasn't very psyched about seeing it.

Then I found out that Tina Fey, is not only in it, but wrote it... and I like what Tina Fey does for SNL, and so the bar got bumped up a bit. Then Tim Meadows walked on the screen, and I went apeshit. I love Tim Meadows, because, in my opinion, he was the second funniest cast member on SNL ever (second to Will Ferrell)... but then I saw the made-over Lindsay Lohan and nearly creamed my drawers. She is soooo hot... it's unbelievable. But I could go on forever on that...

So, the movie, I thought, was actually very good. I thought that the plot was pretty original. At first it kinda seemed like one of those shitty high-school comedies, like "Ten Things I Hate About You" or whatever, but I eventually got into it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Personally, I think Lohan is a solid actress, and I enjoyed the fruits of Tina Fey's perverted comedic tastes. The jokes were pretty dirty for what I thought was going to be something like an Olsen twins movie. I really appreciated the mental narrative provided by Lohan's character, Cady, it really seemed to work. Also, her subtle transformation from "loser" to "plastic" was really fun to watch. The performance provided by the other three "plastics" really did it for me, especially the main one, Regina George (whose mother was hysterical). She portrayed the perfect "bitch", and really kept me in it. Also, I really enjoyed the direction, and progression of the film. I really thought it was a solid film, and would highly recommend it to someone in the mood for a laugh, and, of course, a smile at the end.
