Linkin Park - Meteora
My Thoughts: (Reviewed by Azrael)
This CD is the perfect example of what happens when a great idea goes stale. When Linkin Park released their debut “Hybrid Theory” it was fresh, new, and intriguing. With its fluent melodies in “In the End” and the more Chester-centered tracks like “Crawling”, Hybrid Theory exhibited the seemingly open ended combinations of rock and rap and electronica.. O how the mighty have fallen.
Meteora is a simple rehash of Hybrid Theory. With the mellow tracks such as “Breaking the Habit” (which has the most annoying video in the world) and the more redeeming tracks such as “Faint” it seems that Linkin Park has run out of ideas and simply tweaked some guitars, added more techno effects, and released it as their sophomore effort.
To
be honest, I was very psyched for this album to come out, but then I bought
it and I was severely disappointed. While their live shows continue to get
great reviews, it is not same for their new CD. I really thought Linkin Park
would pull off a stellar 2nd CD, but no. The only redeeming quality is Chester’s
scream, which, unfortunately, are few and far between in this mellowed out
techno CD with guitars thrown in just for fun.
