Our Dear Friend Abe

Sadly, we lost a great friend and fellow rider in July of 06, Abe Perry.

Abe was involved in a terrible accident when his Goldwing collided with a pickup truck on Friday afternoon July 21st 2006. The accident happened just a few hundred feet from the Lisbon Mobil station where we all  gathered with Abe almost daily.  Abe suffered fatal head injuries and passed away the following afternoon after his life support was removed.

Abe was easily one of the most experienced and responsible rider among the group and many of us thought of Abe as our "reluctant leader".  I say reluctant because we would spend too more time deciding who would lead the ride instead of actually riding. No one ever wanted to lead the ride including Abe, but in the end, he would always end up leading anyway.  Abe instead would have rather taken the Tail Gunner position so he could watch over the others to ensure no one was left behind. Taking responsibility for other's was typical Abe as proved by his life, a Father, a Veteran, a Policeman, and a volunteer Fireman.

A Memorial Ride to Honor and remember Abe will be held annually.  The ride will led by his sons, Darren and Kevin, and one of Abe's closest friends and fellow riders, Mac. The ride will travel from The 7 to Beavertail in Jamestown, RI.  Beavertail was a special place for Abe, over the years he led many rides there.  The picture of Abe above was taken at Beavertail on the very last  ride he made to Beavertail just 6 days before his accident.

Join Abe's friends and family in commemorating Abe's life this summer on the 08 Memorial Ride for Abe.

We Will All Miss Our Friend Abe Terribly and He Will Remain In Our Thoughts Forever
