Delhi, November 27: PRESIDENT K.R. Narayanan presented the third Paulos Mar Gregorios Award to P.K.Warrier, Chief Physician and Managing Trustee of Kottakkal Arya Vaidya Sala, Kerala, for his contribution to holistic medicine today.

`` Many celebrated Western doctors have been fascinated by the scope and depth of Ayurveda in dealing with vast array of human ailments in their totality of origin and symptoms. They were astounded to note that it went deep into the emergence of disease rather than symptoms,'' Narayanan said.

The President stressed the need of making Ayurveda acceptable by applying scientific methods and research and ensuring quality and affordable products. Blaming excessive use of antibiotics and focus on curative aspects for the decline of immunity and resistance of microbes to new generation drugs, he called for reviving the indigenous medicines as the panacea for healthy living.
