Video: Honey
Album: Butterfly
Published: Columbia 1997
Length: 06:41
Director: Paul Hunter and Daniel Pearl (rap ver.)
Description:
This is the latest Mariah's music video for the Honey from the future album Butterfly. The video was filmed in Puerto Rico in June 1997. The song Honey itself is different than Mariah's early songs and it has much more hip-hop style. Mariah is backed up with the singer Puffy Combs.
Mariah is held captive in a castle and she is being interrogated by two men. She speaks in Spanish and she's making fun of guard's hair. Then Mariah escapes, jumps of the balcony into the pool full of water. Mariah actually had a stunt to do this, so she didn't need to jump all the way from the balcony.
She comes out of the pool wearing a bikini and she runs into a tent, where she puts on a black swimsuit. Mariah breaks away on waterskis and she is being followed by two guards around the islands. She manages to escape and at the end she swims out on the shore where she is awaited by some man - David Fumero, Cuban American model. At the end of the video, her dog Jack is jumping around on the beach...
The video is full of action and shows Mariah in a different light. She really shows her acting talents.
Rap version:
It has the same sequences as the original video mixed with scenes showing Mase, The Lox and Puffy and Mariah climbing in a helicopter.
