Evolution

Are you a christian that believes Christianity and evolution are compatible? If so, jump here first.

Evolution, first off, blatantly contradicts the 2nd law of thermodynamics which says that all matter is going from a state of order to disorder. We observe this in the aging of our bodies, rusting of metals, death of stars, etc.

The 2nd law of thermodynamics is a well established scientific law. The only reversal of the 2nd law of thermodynamics can come if an outside "intelligence" enters into the process. And, with the exception of God, all intelligent beings are also subject to the 2nd law. (The Bible calls the 2nd law the curse of sin). The formation of information, whenever observed, always comes from an intelligent being, no exceptions. This violates atheistic evolution.

One of the greatest examples of information found in nature is our genetic code. Our genes contain more code information than the greatest super computers can contain, yet they are so small that they can barely be seen with the strongest of microscopes! No one after reading a great book, asks "Wow what a great book! Where can I get some more of that great paper and ink?!" Information comes from intelligence. Just as it foolish to attribute the greatness of a book to the paper and ink, it is equally foolish to attribute the information found in our DNA to amino acids, proteins and natural processes.

Another big problem for evolution is, believe it or not, it's dating methods. All of the dating methods have uniformitarianist assumptions. Uniformitarianism, first proposed by Charles Lyell, (who was an influence upon Darwin) is the belief that the present is the "key to the past". Uniformitarianism assumes that all processes which are observed in the present, have occured at the same rates in the unobserved past. This is an unprovable assumption which is necessary for scientific dating. For instance, weak acids can "leach" out certain radioisotopic elements from rocks and skew dating methods. It is because of assumptions like these that science really can't deal with the past. The past is a "unique event" but science is about testing theories by the "repeatability test."

Another unprovable assumption to the dating methods pertains to the original state of the object dated. Scientists can't know the original composition of radioisotopic elements which existed in a rock (or any other object dated) when it was first formed.

Here is a summary of the fallible assumptions of isometric dating:

These assumptions are unprovable.

There are similar problems with Carbon 14 dating, but I will not get into them at this time.

According to creation scientist, Dr. Russell Humphreys, 90% of all scientific dating methods point to a world that is too young for evolution. All of these dating methods set only upper limits, thus allowing for the Biblical timeframe of about 6,000 years.

Evolution and Christianity are incompatible

The reason that I cannot except evolution as a Christian, is because evolution states that death was present from the beginning, yet the Bible states that death didn't come until man (not our primordial ancestors) sinned. According to Genesis, God originally created a world without sin, that was perfect. See Romans 5:12 and I Corinthians 15. The last thing that I'll say on this subject (hopefully this information is "wetting your appetite") is the fact that the fossil evidence indicates rapid burial NOT the slow decay and death required by evolution. For example, fish fossils have been found near the top of the Grand Canyon, but when fish die they float to the surface and decay. The fossils have no evidence of decay, but rather evidence of a sudden catastrophe. The evidence better fits Noah's flood. It's akin to backing up a cement truck into an aquarium and pouring the debris in!
