NORWOOD 2.2 4.3 6.6 7.8 (50)

Tigers topple rocky Legs.

By Lee Jeloscek.
Norwood coach Neville Roberts has slammed the effort of his players in the wake of yesterday's suprise 12-point loss to Glenelg at Glenelg Oval.
Norwood has now lost four of its past five matches, with Robert's labelling yesterday's effort "pathetic."
"I think that this is a s low as we have been in my time here," roberts said. "I think we were deplorable.
I don't think that you could find any (Norwood) player that could hold his head up.
"We need to find some leadership and some courage. I'm not taking anything away from Glenelg. I think that they were very hard at the ball.
"They applied an extraordinary amount of pressure on us today, but today's effort was really disappointing from our point of view." Since winning its first six games of the season, Norwood has struggled, taking just three of their past nine - a skid that has alarmed Roberts.
In that time, the redlegs have scored more than 100 points just twice.
"Obviously that (attack) is a big concern and we need to address that," Roberts said.
"We're going to have to turn things around pretty quickly, the season is getting away.
"I guess our start to the year has given us a bit of insurance for the last month, we've got cash in the bank for the run home."
With ruck man Matthew golding on top in the ruck, coupled with the quick ball movement provided by the tiger's runners, Glenelg was able to engineer an 11-point buffer by the end of the first quarter.
Combined with Martin mellody, Paul Sherwood and Golding thwarting the majority of Norwood's ventures forward, and with Cameron Venables and Sam Logan presenting strong marking options in attack,Glenelg always apperred to have the Redleg's measure, especially with play maker Brett james tagged out of the game by Malcom Greenwood.
Despite never leading by more than 20 points, glenelg controlled much of the play and was in front all day, apart from the opening minutes.
"That was a really pleasing win for us, because I know how hard the players have worked, and how much we have improved over the past few weeks," Glenelg coach Brenton Honor said.
"In previous weeks we've had patches were we have shown that we can match it with the best times, but havn't been able to mantain our intensity for the whole game. But today we did.
"It may seem strange, but we came into the game expecting to win. we were confident that if we played our best football for four quarters then we would have a good shot at winning."
The win snapped the Tiger's seven-game losing streak, much to the joy of the crowd and the players who revelled in the emotional win, while Norwood players slumped to their knees, before engaging in a team-meeting out on the field.
