Faeries

By shadow

Here amongst dry grass And weathered, softened, grey stones Looking down the hill Out to the sky I whisper soft secrets in my leaves My branches tell the wind how I feel I moan with frantic pleasure during a storm I enjoy it, but at the same time I am afraid Of how quickly I could be struck down and destroyed I rustle soft sighs of contentment today Gentle breezes caress my leaves I silently watch people cry As they grieve the loss of loved ones I disgustedly watch others As they rejoice in the fact That the hated one is truly gone No longer a menacing shadow over their lives Sometimes I watch the maidens frolick in moonbeams Faeries sing in sweet delight to the stars Fauns whirl breathlessly Weaving intricate patterns in the shadows As they dance the night away A girl sits under me now I sense her sadness I whisper soothing words to her Slowly she relaxes A sense of relief slowly creeps across her face As she writes the words That may one day set her free You are the being to view this poem.
